Meet Shyam Chokkalingam – Founder and Registered Physiotherapist

Shyam Chokkalingam graduated from the University of South Australia specializing in Orthopaedic and Manual therapy (2001) after completing Bachelor of  Physiotherapy from Dr. M.G.R Medical University, India (1999). After graduating, he worked in Singapore  before moving to Calgary in 2004.
Shyam is the owner and founder of Caring Hands Physiotherapy Ltd. He started this company in 2012 and currently has expanded to three clinics in Calgary. His success is due to  hard work, dedication, quality service that brings people back for regular  treatments and encourages clients to recommend Caring Hands Physiotherapy to their friends.
Shyam has completed certifications in Spinal Manipulation, Acupuncture, Dry Needling,  Vestibular Rehabilitation, Concussion Management, Temporomandibular Disorders, and Kinesio Taping. He is a current member of College and Association of Alberta in good standing since 2004. He is also a current member of Canadian Association of  Physiotherapy. Shyam has over 20 years of clinical experience in managing different types of  clientele with focus on motor vehicle injuries.
As the founder and a physiotherapist himself, he is motivated by our common mission for the company to grow through a focus on clinical excellence and great customer service. Shyam’s calm and pleasant attitude makes patients feel welcome and at-ease. Shyam firmly believes that every patient is entitled to a complete understanding of their condition and what it will take to improve. His vast knowledge and experience in Orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions is his driving force to get better results for his patients.
When not working, he loves spending time with his family.

Meet Yamni Malve- Clinic Director and Registered Physiotherapist

Yamni graduated with Bachelors in Physiotherapy degree from India in 2000 and has been working as a registered physiotherapist in Calgary since 2010 .
She has experience working with every age group and a diverse population.
Yamni has worked extensively with patients suffering from neck, back, knee pain due to MVA or WCBs . Yamni's approach to the treatment of her diverse clientele involves using a balanced approach, incorporating manual therapy, acupuncture, exercise, and education, specifically tailored to the individual needs of each person. She is a highly dedicated, compassionate, and skilled therapist who is constantly striving to improve the overall well-being of her patients.
Yamni developed a passion for women's health and learning about the importance of Female Pelvic Health after giving birth to her twins. She understood the need for pelvic floor physiotherapy services especially for new moms. This started her journey towards developing a company catering to women with pelvic floor dysfunctions that includes but not limited to Urinary or bowel incontinence, pelvic floor pain, vaginismus, and other related conditions.
Yamni is certified in Female Pelvic floor Physiotherapy and Acupuncture. She believes in adding value to each treatment session by using creative and individually tailored care plans to aide patients in their recovery. She is energetic and loves helping people through their recovery.
In her spare time Yamni loves pursuing interior decorating, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and kids.

Meet Seema Kanwar- Clinic Manager

Seema Kanwar is the Clinic Manager and manages all four locations of Caring Hands Physiotherapy. She is very professional and passionate about her job. Her focus is always making sure that things are running smoothly in all of our clinics. Seema joined the Caring hands Physiotherapy team in 2015 and since then has been integral part of the company.
She has extensive knowledge about dealing with MVA and WCB clients to provide the best care possible to clients. Even when she does not have answer to your question, she will try her best to find a solution for you.
Her main goal is to create friendly and familiar environment for all our therapists, staff, and clients, so everyone feels connected to each other. She is approachable and ever-ready to help anyone in need.
When not working, she loves travelling, spending time with her family and watching Netflix.
Seema is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.

Sarabjeet Kaur joined the Caring Hands Physiotherapy family as Operations Manager in the year 2020. Known fondly as “Sabbie”, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Management and Accounting from the University of Lethbridge. Sabbie brings 10 years of experience in the field of which 8 years were spent as an assistant accountant with responsibilities that included auditing, taxation and business management. Currently she handles the financial auditing and operational management at Caring hands Physiotherapy.

Meet Merlin Susan Philip, Physiotherapist

Merlin Susan Philip is a Registered Physiotherapist with Physiotherapy Alberta and part of the Caring Hands Physiotherpy family at Falconridge for over 5 years. Merlin is currently certified for Dry Needling, Certified Manual Therapist, Peripheral Manipulative Therapy, Advanced Vestibular Rehabilitation, Graston Technique M1 Training and takes various other courses time to time.
Merlin strives to offer an individualized and personal assessment and provides treatment based on each patient's evaluation. She then develops rehab/exercise programs aimed at remedying the client’s issues and helping them back on track to lead a healthy life over the time. She is always willing to answer any questions the client has regarding their case or rehabilitation plans.
Merlin speaks English, Hindi, Malyalam, Telugu and Urdu. In her free times she loves to sing and spending time with her son.

Meet Mitul Vaviya, Registered Physiotherapist

Mitul graduated from the Sardar Patel University, India with a Bachelor of  Physiotherapy in 2011. In order to provide his patients with the best possible care, he also obtained a Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion from Humber College, Toronto. Also, he obtains certifications for Biomedical dry needling, Spine manipulation, TMJ, Acupuncture level 1, Lymph edema and managements, Graston technique, concussion and Vestibular Vertigo management.
Mitul currently works as a physiotherapist with Caring hands Physiotherapy and has previously worked at AHS as well as overseas, including spending time with patients of all ages dealing with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Mitul always wants to help his patients live their healthiest life possible, which is why he continues to take professional development courses. While Mitul enjoys working with patients from all walks of life, he has a particular interest in working with those who suffer with spinal disorders or athletic injuries.

Outside of the Practice.
Mitul speaks English, Hindi, Gujarati. When he isn’t helping patients in the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his newborn daughter. He loves outdoors and participating in activities including downhill skiing, cricket, hiking and travelling.

Meet Navpreet Brar- Physiotherapist Intern

Navpreet is a physiotherapy graduate from India. She also holds a master’s degree in Orthopedics. She loves helping people so she chose to opt Physiotherapy as her profession where she can help patients manage their pain and bring quality in their lifestyles. She is a keen learner and believes in continuous learning through advanced courses to maximize her expertise in her profession. She has completed
numerous post educational courses such TMJ dysfunction, Whiplash, Plantar Fascia pain, rotator Cuff injuries and looking forward to complete more advanced courses and techniques in future. Besides her love for her profession, she cherishes spending time with her family, reading books, meditating, spending quality time with her friends.

Meet Unaise Hameed, Registered Physiotherapist

Unaise joined our clinics as a Physiotherapist in November 2019. After an extensive and successful 15 years career in Physiotherapy academics, clinical practice, and research, he currently finds his passion in helping patients with orthopedic and sports related injuries that affect movement. His clinical practice focuses on assisting patients in reducing pain and improving function by creating individualized and evidence-informed physiotherapy programs. He holds a bachelors, masters, and PhD degrees in Physiotherapy, and has held positions of Assistant professor in Physical therapy with various universities in Finland, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and United Arab Emirates. He was also an adjunct senior
lecturer in Physiotherapy with Monash University in Australia. Prior to joining us, Unaise and his team conducted several researches related to various aspects of patient care, and published 20 peer reviewed research articles in international journals in Physical therapy, rehabilitation and health sciences. His current clinical practice is focused on providing safe and effective care for patients suffering from
whiplash injuries; work related injuries; concussions; vestibular disorders; jaw pain and dysfunction; sports injuries; and a variety of other neuromusculoskeletal disorders.

Outside of the Practice.
Unaise speaks English, Hindi, Urdu, Malyalam and Tamil. Unaise is Married to Akhila, who is a registered speech language pathologist, and they have two children.

Meet Shikha Indal, Registered Physiotherapist

Shikha Indal is a fully registered physiotherapist with a passion to enhance mobility and improve the quality of life of her clients. She graduated with a Master’s degree in physiotherapy with a specialization in Sports Rehabilitation from Lovely Professional University, India in 2012, and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy from Kurukshetra University, India (2010). She has practiced in the out-patient arena for her entire career and is proficient with a variety of manual treatment techniques, and exercise prescriptions. She has been practicing since 2010 and has extensive experience in pediatric, geriatric, and orthopedic rehabilitation. Shikha enjoys treatment of competitive endurance athletes, along with recreational enthusiasts. In addition to personal fitness, she enjoys dancing, artwork, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family. Shikha constantly strives to remain in a state of constant improvement and has recently completed specialized courses in TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) management and dynamic cupping technique.

I speak English, Hindi, Punjabi, Haryanvi. In my free time, I love to spend time with my daughter and going outdoors.

Meet Simran Bhatia - Chiropractor

Dr. Simran spent four years in California at Palmer West, graduating with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree and earning the Clinical Excellence Award. Before that, she earned her Bachelor's of Science degree from Mount Royal University.

Dr. Simran combines a “hands on” approach using a variety of techniques during treatment including myofascial release, manual therapy, and stretches. She specializes in soft tissue including ART and her chiropractic adjustments are both high and low force depending on patient preference and need.

She has also taken several post-graduate courses in manual therapy, myofascial release, taping, ergonomics education and injury prevention. Her passion is to encourage healthy habits through movement, nutrition and mental health alongside chiropractic care!

Dr Suneela ahuja Dr.Ac/TCM, D.M.O, Reiki practitioner

Dr suneela received a Diploma in manual osteopathy in 2018, and became Dr of
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2023 from Calgary Alberta.
During her studies she won so many awards such as, valedictorian, clinical excellence, professional advancement, and community contributions.
Growing up in a family of health care providers instilled care, passion, and understanding of various complexities from a variety of backgrounds.

Meet Dr. Arshmin Singh Kang,  Chiropractor

Dr. Arshmin Singh Kang is a Calgary-born chiropractor with a passion for helping people achieve healthier, pain-free lives. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary before completing his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.

Specializing in spine health, Dr. Kang combines traditional chiropractic adjustments with gentle, evidence-based techniques to create personalized treatment plans for every patient.

When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll find him exploring the mountains, traveling, staying active, or tackling his latest home renovation project.

Meet Kajol Pancholi - Physiotherapist intern

I am a dedicated and experienced Physiotherapist with over 9 years of clinical practice, specializing in cardiopulmonary, neurological, pediatric, and geriatric care. Throughout my career, I have been committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered therapy to improve mobility, function, and overall quality of life. I am recognized for my compassionate approach, strong communication skills, and ability to adapt treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each individual. Meet Claudia Pacheco- Registered Massage Therapist

Claudia Pacheco is originally from Nicaragua and has been living in Calgary for the past 20 years. Claudia studied in Makami College and has completed 3000 hours of training as an RMT. Claudia finds true enjoyment in her profession as she is able work with her hands and help people with the knowledge she has acquired.
Claudia believes in the importance of home care and the benefits of massage to
maintain good health. She is fluent in Spanish and English.

Meet Erica Pineros,  Massage Therapist

Erica is a registered massage therapist at Caring Hands Physiotherapy, Falconridge. She graduated from Makami college in 2015. Erica has been part of the team for 5 years. Originally from Colombia. Erica loves being a massage therapist because she likes to help people and treat different conditions. Her specializations include Hot Stone, Hot Compress, deep tissue and light relaxation massage and are customized depending on the client's tolerance level and condition.
She also likes to incorporate Myofascial, trigger point release therapy and stretching techniques as per need to ease muscle tension.
Erica is experienced in Pre and Post Natal Massage that helps in relaxing a woman’s body and minimize pain before and after giving birth to a baby.
In her free time, Erica loves spending time with her family..

About Dr. Bette Anderson,TCMD, RAc, RHN

Bette completed her education at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, and Alberta College of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine as well as working alongside Dr.Chu at Evergreen Acupuncture and other Chinese medicine masters. Bette is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Medical Herbologist, and vitamin therapist. She incorporates all of these modalities into her practice to address root causes of disease and illnesses making a treatment plan and diet changes using food as medicine

Lan Liu is a licensed/registered massage therapist with over 8 years of hands-on experience.

She specialized in deep tissue, therapeutic, and reflexology massage. She attended Sport Therapy Center in Red Deer and Archway healing College in Edmonton to obtain her massage certifications, and also holds a Bachelor of Medical Science degree from HeNan Medical College, China. Lan immigrated to Canada in 2004 to pursue a better life for her family, and has previously worked as an internal medicine physician in China. While off work, she enjoys cooking, growing flowers and watching sitcoms.
